Cubase / Nuendo


In the Cubase / Nuendo course, students will learn how to use Cubase the two of the most popular DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) in the industry. Topics covered in this course include: setting up a project, recording and editing audio and MIDI, working with virtual instruments and effects, and arranging and mixing a complete track. By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of Cubase and Nuendo and be able to create and produce their own music.

Some of the topics covered in the course include:

  • Setting up a project: Creating a new project in Cubase or Nuendo and how to set up the software to best suit their needs. This will include setting up audio and MIDI inputs and outputs, creating a template for a new project, and organizing the project window.

  • Recording and editing audio and MIDI: How to record audio and MIDI tracks and how to edit them once they are recorded. This will include techniques such as comping, quantization, and pitch correction.

  • Working with virtual instruments and effects: Use the built-in virtual instruments and effects that come with Cubase and Nuendo, as well as how to add third-party plugins to their projects.

  • Arranging and mixing: Arrange and mix their tracks in Cubase and Nuendo. This will include techniques such as automation, grouping tracks, and using busses and sends.

  • Advanced techniques: Learn advanced techniques such as using sidechaining, drum replacement, and creating MIDI FX chains.

  • Mixing and mastering: Mix and master their projects using Cubase and Nuendo's built-in tools and plugins, as well as how to use external hardware and software for mastering.

  • Workflow: Optimize workflow in Cubase and Nuendo, including keyboard shortcuts and macros, customizing the interface and working with MIDI controllers.

Throughout the course, students will work on a variety of projects, starting with simple tracks and building up to more complex productions. They will have the opportunity to receive feedback and guidance from the instructor, as well as the opportunity to share their projects with the class and receive feedback from their peers. The goal of this course is to give students a solid understanding of Cubase and Nuendo and the skills needed to create and produce their own music using these powerful DAWs.
